I was skeptical at first since it is quite cheap, when unboxing the splicer, I did notice that everything was quite dusty and full of small particles and fibers, not maybe the preferred thing for a fiber splicer or fiber tools in general, but once I cleaned it all it was no issue at all, started it up, prepped some test fiber and it worked right away. I have used Fujikura splicers previously with work, but bought this one privately since it was so economical. It’s definitely nowhere near the quality of a fujikura, the fiber vises where you place the fiber tools splice are very plastic and feel odd every-time you place the fiber in, the buttons feel cheap and strange to press, but overall it is what to be expected when paying 10x less for a machine that does get the job done. For me, to use it privately on smaller installations and at home it works great. I have not been able to understand how to use the optical fiber meter, the VFL works great, but the connector does not take LC connectors, so far I only tried SC and these work fine, ST also probably works. The fiber cleaver that is included works okay, nothing special, gets the job done but is a little flimsy, but considering that the whole kit with the splicer cost less than my fujikura cleaver, it is to be expected. The cladding stripper pliers also work surprisingly good, the isopropyl spray bottle is not great, but does the job, I’d prefer a press dispenser but this works fine. The bag it all comes in is also good, protects the equipment and is lightweight, would usually prefer a hard case but it’s quite okay since it is light and flexible. If this was for a professional, I would recommend getting a splicer with removable fiber vises, so you can place it in the cleaver and then place it directly in to the splicer, but for hobby installers, or for private use, or if like me you might only do 10-15 splices per month privately this machine works great, and you can’t get something similar for the price.
